Hi there,
Tired of conforming and following rules, our souls shout within us to be. All our soul wants is to be allowed to shine the light they joyfully and authentically are, so we can all be lighthouses in this world.
Yet, lacking a strong and stable connection to our soul, we end up transforming this deep wish of being into a cry for attention, and so we pursue fame, likes, and social approval. To have power. To not feel powerless, is such a complex and judgmental society. The result is to crave power as an end in itself, to fight against our repression, to replace our lack of love and being.
Needless to say, the application of power without love is reckless.
No wonder our society has so many issues with power, abusing it when we get our hands on it, be it in high governmental ranks or in daily friendly relationships. As a result, power, the ultimate energy of creation, gets a bad name.
Power is a primordial energy needed for any kind of creation. Power serves something, so that something happens. Power doesn't replace anything. One who has power but no mastery over its potency can easily become destructive, despite one's best intentions.
The lion is a symbol of power in the forest, but it is also a symbol of self-mastery. The idiom "to have the heart of a lionâ means to have strength, courage, and bravery. What is braver than to stand for love?
As the great mage Aleister Crowley put it, âLove is the Law, Love under Will.â Why under will? His meaning of will was one's manifestation of authentic purpose, soul mission, which is in itself application of power to create that purpose. True and authentic soul purpose (and not egoic desires) is always aligned with love. Thus love is the law, but will is what allows the application, the manifestation of that love in the first place.
Below is an excerpt from one of my favorite books, "Where do we go from here?â by Martin Luther King Jr. I hope you enjoy it.
May you love life, so that whatever you create in this life be done with love, and may power be with you so your creations are grounded and real.
âPower, properly understood, is the ability to achieve purpose. It is the strength required to bring about social, political, or economical changes. In this sense, power is not only desirable but necessary in order to implement the demands of love and justice. One of the greatest problems of history is that the concepts of love and power are usually contrasted as polar opposites. Love is identified with a resignation of power and power with a denial of love. It was this misinterpretation that caused Nietzsche, the philosopher of the âwill to powerâ, to reject the Christian concept of love. It was this same misinterpretation which induced Christian theologians to reject Nietzscheâs philosophy of the âwill to powerâ in the name of the Christian idea of love.
What is needed is a realization that power without love is reckless and abusive and that love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power is at its best love implementing the demands of justice. Justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love. "
See you next week,
Aline
